The Princess is Evil Chapter 12

“Puhahaha!”

Harriet grabbed his stomach and laughed out loud. On the other hand, Nikil’s face twisted in dismay.

“Why are you laughing? Was my assumption that wrong?”

“No, it makes sense. That’s why it’s so funny that you’re wrong.”

Harriet wiped the tears from his eyes as he struggled to stop laughing. Meanwhile, Ibec glanced between Leona and the emperor with a peculiar expression.

“Father, please have a seat.” Ibec formally spoke to the emperor.

The emperor nodded indifferently before looking down at Leona who was in his arms. Leona gazed back.

“I can get down now.”

Leona’s red eyes reminded the emperor of the empress. He thought carefully that they were really quite beautiful. She doesn’t seem to be scared of him and for some reason, he couldn’t treat her like all the other princes.

“Did you want to be put down?”

The emperor holds the struggling Leona and chucks her on a chair.

“Hey, Daddy!”

Leona whines as her back hits the chair. But she doesn’t cry and turns around to smile innocently at her father.

“Sorry, I can’t help it. I just hurt my back. Hug?”

Hiick. All the people gathered inhaled out of shock. Leona didn’t notice and just reached out her hands towards the emperor.

“I guess you’re still weak.”

The emperor muttered when she pulled his cloak towards her. Everyone was astonished. Fluffy hair, soft white skin, pink cheeks and two big eyes were facing the emperor. Lips like cherries are formed into a pout as her nose twitches like a bunny. As a bonus, her limbs were chubby like marshmallows. Instead of frowning, the emperor touched Leona’s cheek and settled her gently back into her seat. For the first time the emperor is nurturing someone. The attendants exchanged surprised glances.

“You there.”

“I have a name.” Harriet grumbled

“Do you think father finds rabbit cute?”

“Maybe.”

“How cute does he find her?”

“Definitely cuter than you.”

“Hmm.” Nikil smiled brightly. “Father and I seem to have something in common. I’m glad.”

However there is an arduous atmosphere as some people were being ignored. The second prince Ibec narrowed his eyes as the approach of the other princes and family members were ignored. The newly arrived siblings were hesitating awkwardly. But Ibec, from start to finish, only observed quietly.

‘Father has never looked at someone like that.’

Looking back, the emperor never showed care towards his children.

‘What is different about her?’

Now it’s not just Nikil and Harriet but also the emperor who embraced that beggar.

‘Should I kill the princess today?’

After all, someone with the emperor’s care is rather dangerous. In the end, the emperor still shouldn’t care too much about the fight for succession so he should get her today. Ibec clenched his fist. He was a prince who inherited the emperor’s powers. His breath became deeper.

“Prince, please sit down.”

Ibec woke up from his trance and hurried towards his seat.

“Today is the day of his highness, the second prince’s, birthday. We…”

The voice of an attendant could be heard giving a formal speech but Ibec couldn’t concentrate. He was sitting across from the 12th princess, Leona who was busy staring at the table-wear.

‘Is she aware that I put the poison on her fork?’

Ibec wondered for a moment.

‘No. It can’t be.’

The poison has no colour or scent. It was made to be invisible. Ibec watched Leona carefully as she grabbed her fork before she dropped it on the floor.

‘How can she know.’

Ibec was confused as he knew that Leona was only 3. What he didn’t know is what she was truly thinking at that point.

‘Is this fork made of silver? I wonder how much I could sell it for?’

The princess who was planning to make money didn’t know. She only eagerly reached for the fork with money on her mind. The emperor sat at the head of the table and Leona was sat next to Nikil across from Ibec. Leona realised that she must be hated for holding onto the emperor when she noticed Ibec’s intense stares.

‘I’ll get you later.’

Leona laughed and then reached for the eggs in a hurry. She was hungry after all. But because of the lack of power in her hand, the fork fell onto the floor.

-thud!

Ibec slammed his fist onto the table. The attendant was interrupted in the middle of his speech but Ibec didn’t care as he focused on Leona.

‘If poison doesn’t work…’

Without thinking, he decides to make a hasty move.

-Hwiik!

Ibec used his thumb and index finger to whistle. Immediately a strong wind blew as hidden assassins leapt out of the shadows.

“Oh!”

“Be careful!”

Assassins shoved the guards and attendants to the side.

“Kill the Princess!”

Ibec raised his hand to point at Leona. A three year old that can’t even resist should just die. Ibec smiles and turns away with a sense of victory until his eyes catch the emperor’s.

“…”

He suddenly felt as if he had made a mistake.

***

“Oh!”

“Brother! Why are you doing this!”

The emperor already expected the 2nd prince to plan a surprise attack but he decided not to warn anyone about this pathetic attack. As usual, the merciless emperor did not care. However, without realising, he had already moved to deflect the attacks towards Leona and the arrows bounced to the side.

“Ah?”

Leona stared in surprise.

“Father?”

Ibec was equally surprised as he stared in shame.

“That…” Ibec struggled to form a question.

The emperor took a deep breath before responding.

“The girl came without her sword. It’s in the rules of succession that each successor should have a sword by them.”

“This…”

Ibec glanced at Leona. She had come here alone and was attacked in the absence of her sword.

“I didn’t notice.”

The assassins that were targeting Leona quickly retreated to his side. Ibec’s eyes seemed as if they were now trying to find another victim.

As if he was thinking, ‘it’s too hot. I want to find someone to hit with ice.’

Either way, he quietly accepted that there was nothing he could do to Leona for now. Ibec’s assassins were left to target the rest of the members as maids and some royals were running away desperately. Even then, the emperor just blinks.

‘What a crazy, heartless guy.’

Leona thinks as she watches the emperor sit still whilst his kid was busy trying to kill his other children. Leona pulled onto the emperor’s sleeve.

“Daddy.”

The emperor wouldn’t move so Leona leans towards him to say,

“Help Nikil.”

Nikil was busy being pushed back by Ibec’s assassins. Leona frowned as she saw his bloody wounds and twisted leg.

“Please help.” Leona murmured again.

This time, Harriet intervened.

“No princess.”

She saw a rarely seen stern expression on his face.

“You can’t get involved in the fight for succession.”

“So why can only I be rescued?”

“Nikil has his sword.”

I looked at him in disbelief.

“It died. See over there.”

I looked to where Harriet pointed and a dead knight could be seen. Leona sighs in anger.

“That bastard…! I have to kill him!” Nikil desperately tries to reach Ibec. But with the crowd of assassins, he couldn’t even reach him.

‘Aargh. I really like Nikil. I can’t throw him away after all.’

In the end, it’s not easy to have such a powerful ally who can use the power of the sun god. So Nikil was not allowed to die. Nikil fell back with a pierced shoulder. I just promised myself that I wouldn’t show my power, but…

‘I should help Nikil escape. Would a fire arrow be enough?’

Nikil desperately wielded a sword with light power to attack Ibec and at the same time an ice arrow flew towards him from an assassin. If he was hit by the arrow he would probably die but at the same time a baby’s voice was heard.

“Fire-“

Moreover, it seemed familiar.

“-ball.”

-bang!

A huge fireball obliterated the arrow and hit the assassins.

“Oh!”

Ibec flew away and barely survived. Nikil turned his attention to one place. The same was true for the emperor and Harriet. They all stared at Leona who still had red energy flowing from the tips of her fingers.

‘….’

Leona really hadn’t planned on this.

“Our luck sure is amazing, there’s actually so much food in the supermarket that weren’t taken away.”

“Be careful, see if there are any zombies around.”

“None.”

“Wonderful.”

Inside a small supermarket, two meners started getting excited over having been able to find supplies.

Five years ago, the end of the world suddenly came to be. An unknown virus swept the world and countless humans turned into brainless freaks that only knew to eat other humans. Through experts’ observations, in the end they concluded that this kind of decomposing creatures with no thought pattern could only be given one name—- zombies.

Afterwards, amidst this disaster, there were humans who evolved to have abilities continuously appearing, perhaps because of an instinctual need to survive so that mankind could have the chance to survive in this cruel apocalyptic world.

The Princess is Evil Chapter 11

The 2nd princes’ servants were busily scurrying back and forth arranging colourful flowers. Rare fruits and expensive desserts were set on a giant dinner table. More flowers were placed around the table. Although only relatives to the royal family were invited, hundreds of guests were coming out of loyalty to the imperial family. They also came to pay respects to the emperor and the second prince, Ibec.

“Is this ok?”

A maid nervously asked the head maid.

“Let’s double check to make sure everything is perfect. We can’t leave a stone unturned.”

Everything looked good however the head maid was still concerned. Today was the banquet for the 2nd prince. Ibec was known for being a neat freak. Everything had to be perfectly in its place so the people on the 2nd princes’ palace were especially nervous.

“Let’s place some more flowers.”

“Okay”

“This should be enough…”

Phew, the chief maid sighed. Everything was arranged at lightning speed as they finished placing the flowers. A gentle wind blew in, bringing a pleasant scent. The maids instinctively straightened up as they recognised the owner of this cool energy.

“What a mess.”

The maids turned stiff at his voice. A young prince with silver hair is standing at the entrance. It’s the 2nd prince Ibec. The ladies hurriedly bowed as terror swept over them. Ibec was just a 12 year old child but he had formidable power as the second prince of the empire. In addition, he had brutally killed three princesses by the time he was 6. The maids could barely breathe. Step, step, step. Ibec approached the table and took out a measuring tape.

“It’s out of place.”

He frowned.

“I thought I told you to line up the cutlery neatly.”

Snap! He violently flicked the measuring tape in his hand. Blue power swirls in his hands as the maids try to figure out what was out of place.

“We’re sorry!”

The maids continued bowing. A sharp wind crashed against the dishes on the dining table.

“We didn’t know. We’ll prepare it again.”

The measuring tape around Ibec’s hand flashed with power. The white light grew as he prepared to strike down the servants.

“Stop it, brother.”

It was Nikil who interrupted him and pulled his shoulders.

“Isn’t it your birthday today? Do we really need to see blood on such a happy day?”

Ibec glanced at Nikil’s hand on his shoulder. He didn’t even hear Nikil’s footsteps as he approached. Has he suddenly learnt to silence his steps? Or was he neglectful in observing his surroundings? Ibec shoves Nikil’s hand aside and returns his gaze to the maids. Ibec looked like he was going to continue attacking his maids but Nikil didn’t retreat as he addressed them.

“Please finish up your work here. Ibec, people are going to be coming soon so this place can’t look too bloody.”

Ibec sighs and glances back towards the ladies.

“Get back to work.”

“Thank you, your highness!”

The maids rushed off but Ibec made sure to imprint their faces on his mind. Nikil recognised that expression and clicked his tongue.

“If I don’t punish them harshly, I will have a target on my back,” Ibec sighed, exasperated.

“I’m targeting you after all. Aren’t you the same?”

Nikil smiled sarcastically and Ibec’s blue eyes darkened. He lifted them to examine Nikil.

“I’ve heard that you’ve been leaving your palace often.”

“Oh really?”

“You’ve been going to the Black Rose Palace.”

Ibec noticed Nikil’s concerned expression and smiled, “I was thinking of inviting that cub. Should I?”

Nikil returned his smile.

“Should I just kill you now?”

“Just try and see if you can.”

The light of the sun god’s powers flowed from Nikil’s hands. Ibec didn’t retreat either as he summoned energy which gleamed blue. The ground started vibrating and the maids who were still arranging the room rushed to escape. Just then an overbearing presence entered the room. Ibec’s eyes widened.

“Your majesty!”

Nikil and Ibec struggled to regain their strength under the pressure of the emperor. Although the emperor normally doesn’t involve himself in fights, on this occasion he stopped them. They can’t continue quarrelling without at least greeting the emperor but…

“…”

There was an unbelievable sight at the entrance of the room. The emperor was walking and in his arms,

“…?”

He was carrying the princess.

***

“Yawn.”

On the way to the second princes’ palace I can’t help but yawn as I burrow my face into the emperor’s stable chest. If I think about it, being carried like this isn’t too bad. In the past I did everything alone. Back then, I turned my back on humans who’ve always betrayed me. At the same time I was still afraid to be alone so I let myself be killed by a human. Never again. My potential is strong but my body is weak so for now I’ll have to rely on humans. The mana that was imprinted on my soul is still too overpowering for this body. But once I’m stronger I won’t have to lean on anyone and I’ll show my power to those weak humans. If I become the emperor, wouldn’t my power be great enough to get revenge? I’m a witch after all, I thought with an evil smile.

“I guess you’re attending the banquet just like you wanted, Princess.” Harriet said.

He raised an eyebrow at me.

“Look at that smile. You must be really happy. Ah, you’re so adorable.”

His smile is so unattractive. I really can’t understand the emperor’s aide.

As we went to the entrance of the banquet hall we were greeted by servants. At that moment I got goosebumps from the mana that was flowing through the air.

‘Is there a fight going on inside?’

I glanced up and saw Nikil on one side and on the other side there’s…

‘an ice wizard?’

The boy had the rare ice power that was also possessed by the emperor. I wished I could use it too. Anyway, those weak guys are busy hitting each other. But I was curious and I couldn’t help laughing. Then Harriet blocked my line of sight as he came to explain.

“Their mana is already quite strong. Their fight could hurt you.”

Then he looked closer at me. Why is he only looking at me. There’s a fight going on you know.

Suddenly the emperor looked down and tilted my chin towards him.

“Your majesty, are you worried about the princess being exposed to their mana?” Harriet giggled.

The emperor narrowed his eyes at Harriet. But the emperor still covers my face to hide it from mana exposure.

“If they fight like this, aren’t they going to hurt my daughter?”

No, you really don’t have to worry. I’m stronger than those kids in there.

“Since you’re still weak, it’s better to avoid dangerous things.”

No! I want to see more! I struggled but the emperor’s arms held me tightly so I couldn’t move.

“Tell them to stop.”

Harriet smirked and went into the room and soon the servants in the room bowed and exclaimed.

“Your majesty!”

At the same time, the flow of the princes’ mana was cut off and I became curious. The emperor was able to overpower the mana that the princes were releasing. Everyone else was stunned at the power used to stop a kids’ fight. Haah, let’s just forget it. I leaned into the emperor’s chest and he started to pat my back. Pat, pat, pat. Are you secretly a masseur? My muscles loosened and I felt satisfyingly light. I laughed happily.

“You must like this.”

The emperor smiled at me. For some reason, his smile seems like it’s friendly rather than ridiculing. I smiled wider and the emperors smile got also got broader.

“Father.”

At that time I heard Nikil’s voice and I turned my head to look at him. But, strangely, his face was stiff as if he was fearful.

“Why did you come here with rabbit, no, I mean with Leona?” He said in a quivering voice.

“Surely…”

His hands were clenched in fists.

“You’re not planning to kill her, right?”

Ah, seriously. What kind of delusion does Nikil have. I cover my face with my palm.

The Princess is Evil Chapter 10

AN- I have an apology to make. In the previous chapters I seem to have overlooked the pronunciation that Leona sometimes has, so if you’re confused about the baby speech, I only just realised 😳😖. Anyway, I’m really sorry.

The dry wind blew. I was stunned as I watched the back of the emperor who was walking away. How can there be such a heartless bastard? He’s such a bad man. Harriet is keeping his watchful eyes on me. If the emperor had let me go to the banquet, no one could have forbidden me because an emperor’s word is absolute. And yet… does his reaction even make sense?

“W’et’s go.”

I began to run after him.

“Go, go, go!”

I ran on my stubby legs. It’s my first time really running with this body, but I am the greatest witch so I can run fast. Trust me, I am the best. I’ll catch him up…

“Oh!”

“Princess”

I was too confident and I slid on the ice. I didn’t fall on the smooth ice but on the rocky ground so pebbles scraped my hands and knees.

“Ah, Princess! You’re bleeding!”

Harriet trembled and rushed towards me. My knees were bruised and bleeding. Ick, I feel so dirty.

“I’m going to call a doctor right now. Come on, get up!”

I brushed the dirt off my skirt and looked towards the emperor’s back and I ran towards him again.

“W’et’s go twogethwer. Don’t leave.”

The emperor looked down at me slowly.

“Are you sick?”

I blanked out for a moment. I didn’t think that he would notice my wounds.

“Huwts.”

Thanks to slipping, my knees hurt so much but I endured it. The emperor of the continent hates the weak but I couldn’t help crying a little.

“Don’t cry.”

With 3 year old pronunciation, it was hard to fully express myself.

“Lweona can’t twurn off her tears. It’s a crwying thing.”

Phew. I think I’ve answered well. The emperor looked at me closely. Then he stretched out his big hand to lay on my head.

“…mya?”

I suddenly felt like I was floating as the emperor picked me up to his eye level.

“How did you get rid of the barrier before?”

Ah. I held my breath for a moment. I tried to put on an innocent face that said, ‘what are you talking about?’

“How did you reach the mosaic?”

“The mosaic? Ah! The stone picture of that white bird?”

“You don’t know how you reached it?”

I felt like crying now. What if the emperor can detect my lies.

“Woo?”

But I still pouted and feigned innocence. The emperor further narrowed the gap between us. Let’s just keep a poker face.

“I just wanted to go to banquet. It hwurts.”

I moved the legs that were floating in the air. The emperor looked at me and for a moment it looked as if he was smiling. He put me down.

“Follow me.”

I laughed excitedly. After all, he can’t abandon me.

“Daddy!”

I shout vigorously as I followed his steps. But after all,

“My legs hurt.”

I grabbed his cloak.

“Daddy, hold me.”

The cold expression of the emperor crumbled…

***

Harriet swallowed anxiously as he watched Leona tug onto the cloak of the emperor.

“Daddy, hold me.”

Harriet was concerned. If you don’t let go, who knows what the crazy emperor will do. Harriet interrupted.

“Princess, how about you let me carry you?”

It was not in self interest. Of course he did it for the Princess.

“Go away…”

However, the young lady pushed Harriet away and grabbed tighter onto the emperor.

“If you don’t hold me, I won’t let go,” she said to the emperor as she held on fiercely.

Now, Harriet felt like crying. Although it’s strange, normally people try to avoid the emperor. Even the princes are careful. But maybe it’s because Leona is sad. Harriet recalled what Nikil had said Leona told him yesterday.

‘Don’t lie and say you love me.

Because of her mother’s death, she probably craves her father even more. So she probably needs her father’s arms. She was instinctively looking for her parents. Harriet’s eyes dampened. At that time, Leona was complaining in her heart.

‘It hurts my arm. Hurry up and pick me up.’

She felt like growling at the emperor who was unresponsive. Leone felt that the emperor must like her as he didn’t reject her so she thought that she should be more forward. She couldn’t use magic because she was hiding her identity so she could only rely on her father.

“Daddy, why aren’t you holding me? Walking hurts my legs.”

I turned my bright, gleaming eyes towards his.

‘Hugg! Pick me up!’

Leona’s fighting spirit was strong but her body was getting tired. Just as she was feeling sad, she felt arms picking her up. Leona’s eyes widened. The emperor’s chest felt warm and his supporting hands were gentle.

However, all Leona could think was, ‘I won.’

She was drunk on her victory. After all, no human could reject her. Now the emperor too had become her follower!

“Daddy!”

Leona smiles at him and the emperor stares back. Harriet could only look at them in speechlessness as he wondered about the emperor actually holding a child. Harriet was overwhelmed. He barely resisted the urge grab Leona. He hurriedly looks at the emperor’s face but the emperor was…

“Smiling?”

The emperor was smiling slightly as he looked down at Leona. Harriet had a headache. The emperor was smiling?

‘Perhaps…’

Harriet wondered if maybe the emperor was changing and his chest swelled with hope.

“If you don’t come right now, we’ll leave without you.”

Harriet’s bubble burst and he ran after the emperor in a rush.

The Princess is Evil Chapter 9

TN- I feel like if the original author ever saw this translation and understood English, she would really wonder if it was actually her story that I was translating.

***

“Cha.”

I step onto the fluffy grass. A section of flowers catch my eye. The black roses that bloom in this palace give it a gloomy atmosphere. When Nikil comes here, it makes him upset so Harriet asked him if he wanted to plant forsythia. But I refused them. No flower suits me better than the gloomy black roses. The smell of the roses makes my nose twitch and I felt dark mana in this place as usual.

“But why is there mana here?”

Not even Cage could feel it. I guess I’ll think about it later as it’s not important right now.

“Fly”

I lifted myself into the air. My body shook at the effort because I wasn’t used to using mana yet. But with these short legs, I had no choice so that I could move faster. I made Cage fall asleep with my mana when she carelessly touched my hand whilst we were walking outside. Sadly the amount of mana a 3 year old can use is limited so the magic will last less than an hour. So I have to hurry to get to the banquet hall.

“Let’s go quickly.”

I leaned forward to move faster in the air. Other humans won’t be able to notice me unless they look closer.

“Eugh, I’m finally getting bigger.”

I spit out a murmur. The human body really grows up slowly. Even a foal will know how to walk moments after it is born. For me, it is only possible to walk now. At least I can walk well but it’s not very cold and my nose already feels runny.

“Achoo!”

So pathetic. I even have to sneeze now. I wipe my nose with my sleeves and my lips tasted salty.

“Ah, seriously!”

My nose keeps running. Living as a child is really hard work. As someone who is 300 years old, this body is impossible to get used to. A 3 year old baby really can’t claim to be a powerful witch. Even if I was believed, the emperor who fought me would rush to kill me.

“Hiyu. I’m going to live because I’m the witch.”

I wiped my nose again. The more I endure, the further I come to reaching my goal. One day everyone will bow at my feet. When that time comes, I will kill whoever tries to call me cute. I will ban anyone from saying it.

“Uum”

I made a nasal sound as I tried to speak so I cleared my throat.

“Cancellation.”

I cancelled my magic so that I would float to the ground. I slowly looked around to take in the new scenery around me which I was properly seeing for the first time in my life. I didn’t recognise anything. Which way should I go…

***

Normally, I would be led by somebody else so now I could only randomly go in a direction but I just got more lost. Damn it. I sat down on the ground.

‘I wish I had a map.’

It looked like it would be simple to find my way to the banquet when I looked from the windows of the palace. In the end, it’s no big deal to be late to the banquet. I wanted to ask people passing by for directions but, oddly, there was nobody here. Well, let’s just climb a tree. But I’m just a three year old so it would be impossible. The sun blinds my eyes as it shines onto pebbles next to me. They are all different colours. Black, blue, light green, pink, red, silver… The shape of a dragon was created with these stones with a giant torso, wings and sharp teeth. A phrase comes to mind…

<Glory to the Great Empire>

Eskina. It must be a depiction of that old man.

“What a shame.”

All this for that nasty old hag.

‘Anyway, he’s hibernating so he can’t even see this.’

I approach the mosaic. It was surrounded by a barrier that would sound an alarm when it was touched. Surprisingly, this barrier was difficult to remove.

‘It seems to have been made by a fourth circle mage or higher.’

But I was confident in my ability.

“Release.”

I cast a spell to raise the barrier with my magic.

“…”

The me of the past would have had no problem with this magic but for this 3 year old body the spell was very draining. I grumbled at the difficulty but the barrier finally cracked. I straightened my slim waist full of pride and didn’t hesitate to step onto the mosaic. The spell took a lot of energy and I was tired so I lay down to relax. I’m so jealous of that old dragon.

“Kekeke… let’s mess it up.”

I smile as I move pieces of gravel in the mosaic to change the picture. The old hag can’t see this anyway.

“Huhuhu.”

I worked busily with a sneaky smile. I was excited so I didn’t notice the shadow of a human draping over me.

“What are you doing?”

“Woo, I’m making the mountain dragon prettier… wait… who’s there?”

I raised my head in shock and looked at the person standing next to me. A familiar face welcomed me. I hadn’t seen it in three years. That annoying face with tremendous power. Emperor? This was so unexpected. He appeared so suddenly like this.

“Hiccup.”

Uh?

“Hiccup!”

What?

“Hic-hic-hic!”

I also started hiccuping unexpectedly.

“Gaah!”

It really won’t stop. So unfortunate.

***

‘Keep looking at me.’

I wanted to tell the emperor as soon as he stopped watching me. I give him a bright smile and laugh but for some reason he doesn’t react. Usually when I do this other people will grab their chests.

“…”

As expected of the stone cold emperor. He really didn’t react. The emperor suddenly released his power and cold sweat ran down my back. I gulped.

‘He’s definitely gotten stronger.’

He took my hand and I felt the immense pressure of his mana which made me feel sick. I struggled to release my hand from his and he stepped back. But then,

“Sire! Sire!”

Not far from us, I could hear Harriet’s cry. I’ve never heard him sound so displeased. He ran up to the emperor half dressed.

“Wow, emperor. How could you do this to me? We should go together. You just had to wait a little for my shirt to be ironed. How can you leave me to go alone? You… Princess!?”

Harriet noticed me.

“Hi Harriet.”

I smiled brightly and waved my hand.

“Ah, the princess smiled at me… oh, my heart…”

I frowned at him. Every time I see Harriet he seems to be getting a little more crazy.

“Oh princess. You are so lovely. How can such a perfect creation exist?”

He looks at me with fascination and rambles on.

“I feel like my purpose in life has been achieved just from looking at the princess… wait! Now is not the time, Harriet.”

He’s so crazy he’s even started talking to himself.

“Why are you here? Where’s Cage?”

“She’s sleeping.”

“Oh… so you came here secretly? Why?”

“I’m going to the memorial banquet.”

I made this escape plan just to meet the other royals so that I can make plans to defeat them!

“Oh no, that’s not possible. Didn’t I tell you already?”

Now Harriet is trying to foil my plans.

“I’ll call someone to bring you back.”

“Wait.”

The emperor cut into Harriet’s speech and I stopped pouting. The emperor raised his index finger and pointed at me.

“Who is this?”

Who? Me? I pointed at myself in disbelief.

“This is your daughter.”

“Um.”

“She’s the 12th princess who you sent to select her sword.”

“Um.”

“She chose the necromancer Cage as her sword.”

Even with Harriet’s explanations it seems as if he did not remember. I felt very frustrated. I’ve thought of you day and night. My cheeks inflated and I stared at him indignantly.

“Ah.”

The emperor raised his lips.

“I remember those eyes.”

He looked at me with a smirk.

“Leona.”

His voice contained a tremendous amount of mana which made me wary. In this case, as a 3 year old, I am only capable of one thing. I really don’t want to do it… but I really want to live.

“Woo, it’s Leona”

I smiled.

“I’m going to the birthday banquet.”

I heard the sound of Harriet grabbing his chest but I focused on the emperor with my cutest smile. This really hurts my pride. I am a great witch! But the emperor is the greatest in this continent. The fear of my past self who had barely escaped him was also imprinted on my soul. So in front of the emperor I can only act cute. I had no choice but to imitate a child like this. Fortunately this body is very lovable. It simulates a human’s useless protective instinct. I laugh so loud that my jaw cramps.

“Hmm.”

When Harriet came out of his trance he held onto my shoulder.

“Princess, this is the emperor. He is your father.”

“Empror?”

“Yes, yes. This is the emperor. He’s your father. Try calling him.”

“Father.” (TN- I don’t think there is an English equivalent for abamama)

“How about daddy?”

Damn it! I’m going to lose my dignity as a witch but there is no helping it. I tilted my cheek towards the emperor.

“Daddy!”

Harriet collapsed but the emperor did not even respond. He is such a cold human.

“I’m going to the feast.”

I reached out and repeated what I said.

“Daddy, I’m going to the feast.”

I twinkled my eyes. With this, he definitely won’t be able to resist.

“You can’t come.”

The emperor definitely wouldn’t be able to refuse, right?

“It’s getting late. You should return.”

The emperor passed me without looking back. What? He rejected me?

The Princess is Evil Chapter 8

(TN- this chapter was really hard so I probably mistranslated more than usual.)

So bitter. They keep stroking my head and cheeks so I feel like I’ve become a rabbit…

“Cage! Stop it!”

I woke up to them arguing.

“I’m her sword. Don’t touch her!”

I’m a witch who has lived for over 300 years! Get your hands off this witch! My nose feels hot and stuffy. Nikil’s eyes widened as he covered his face with one hand and looked down. His shoulders were shaking. Of course he should be shaking. He should be trembling in fear. I am the great witch!

“Gosh!”

“Is our little rabbit upset?”

Nikil reached out for my hand

“Our rabbit is so independent. She’s already like a grown up, right?”

“…no. She’s a bit small.”

I rejected Nikil’s hand.

“Rabbit doesn’t like me. I hate it the most.”

Nikil shot a pitiful glance at Cage.

‘Huh?’

It was at this time that I noticed a shift in the air. I glanced towards the window as a shadow flashed by. I briefly wondered if I should do anything.

Clang! Thud!

Cage and Nikil’s magic attacked the intruder at the same time which revealed a human. He emerged from the shadow with dark smoke flowing around him. Cage flicked her hand to spell the smoke away.

“Well that was a surprise. Were you hurt?”

“Are you ok, miss?”

They hurriedly examined me but the black smoke never even reached me.

“My Rabbit is alright.”

Nikil smiled in relief and patted my head. Cage also looked happy. It was strange. It is really hard to adapt to others protecting me. Whenever it happens, my heart would feel ticklish. I can’t stand it.

‘What kind of emotion is this?’

There was no answer to this worry. Even as a human, I had no chance to learn emotions so it was very difficult to understand humans.

‘Well, at least they’re taking care of problems.’

Nikil looked thoughtful as he found something strange on the body.

“He didn’t die from my magic?”

“Mine didn’t kill him either.”

They raised their heads wordlessly.

“Harriet?”

I felt popular right now. Harriet had come to stand next to me without us noticing. I hadn’t even noticed his mana. I narrowed my eyes. How can he be so strong? I’m so weak compared to him! I’m disgusted! Somehow, I’m going to become stronger than him. I clenched my fist.

“It’s been a long time since we last met. Was the princess surprised?”

Harriet, who had quickly became my rival, didn’t know what I was thinking so he smiled at me.

“Why were you guys so slow? You have to be more proficient to keep her safe.”

“What was that!? When did you even come in?”

“Leave, right now.”

“Ehey, you shouldn’t treat me like this,” Harriet said while hiding behind me.

This man is supposed to be the emperor’s aide and yet he has the time to bother me. How useless.

“Hmmph.”

I turned my head in discomfort.

“Were you scared, Princess?”

Harriet fawns over me. I forgot that this guy is crazy too. I turned away from Harriet because I didn’t want to see him anymore.

“Ahh… the princess’ back is cute as well.”

I can’t hear you, I can’t hear you. I struggled to ignore him. I closed my mouth tightly.

“Ha ha… she’s so cute… Actually, today I didn’t come to see her. I have something to say to the prince.”

“Who? Me?”

Nikil pointed to himself and Harriet nodded.

“Yes. I would like to tell you that people are going to be suspicious if they find out about you being at the Black Rose Palace like this every day.”

“I already know. Do you think it’s going to stop me from staying here?”

Nikil grinds his teeth. I don’t know why but he doesn’t seem to like Harriet very much. These complex emotions of humans are really beyond comprehension.

“Oh, prince if you’re not careful with your words you won’t live long.”

Of course, Harriet didn’t like Nikil either.

“Aren’t you a lot older than me? I think you need to be more worried about yourself.”

“What do you mean old? I’m only thirty and full of life. I still have a long life ahead of me.”

”You will become frail and useless soon.”

“Prince, you know that I’m stronger than you, right?”

With that, Nikil was silenced. No matter how talented he was for a ten year old, he still couldn’t win against the experienced aide. Nikil took a deep breath.

“So, was there anything else you wanted to say?”

“Tomorrow is the birthday of the 2nd Prince. A memorial banquet is being held so the emperor has asked for the entire royal family to attend.”

”Ah. I wasn’t planning on attending.”

“Um… That’s not possible. You have to attend. It’s the emperor’s order.”

“Everyone has to?”

Nikil glanced towards me.

“No way. She can’t be included.”

Harriet shook his head.

“She wasn’t on the invitation list.”

Nikil sighed.

“Is father coming too?”

“Didn’t I just tell you? It’s his majesty’s command. Is your memory like a goldfish’s?”

“You really have no respect for royalty, huh. When I become the emperor you’ll be done for.”

“I guess I’ll have to run away before that, right princess?”

Harriet leans towards me and laughs. I hate his face so I didn’t react. Instead, I reached out to Nikil.

“Niki.”

“Leona! Do you want to be held? Why are you so cute?”

Nikil smiled brightly as he looked at me.

“Birthday party!”

I want to meet the royal family. I can’t miss this opportunity!

“I’m going too!”

Everyone’s face became speculative. Nikil quickly grabbed me.

“No, no, no. You can’t! You weren’t invited.” (TN- ouch)

“I’ll be good if you take me.”

“That’s… call me big brother first.”

“Brother.”

“She’s so cute… am I going insane?”

“Yes.”

“Perhaps.”

Cage and Harriet shoot at Nikil again.

“No. Leona, I can’t take you with me. You can’t go.”

“Why?”

I widened my eyes and pouted. I know that this look works on Nikil. Nikil leans back and bites his lips. I sent a look towards Harriet to ask him to support me.

“Sister, this memorial is dangerous. It would be too risky for you to go.”

“He’s right. The second prince is scary.”

Harriet added and Nikil nodded.

“He’s dangerous to a small, precious and cute child like you.”

“That’s right. You can just have a picnic with me princess,” Cage intervened with a smile.

“Ok Leona? You can have your own party.”

Nikil pinched my cheeks again. He’s so ignorant. I have to go there to get to know the enemy so that I can kill them. At least with Harriet, Cage and Nikil protecting me I am not an easy target. So I’m safe. They just need to understand that.

‘I’m not missing this opportunity.’

I’m a witch, I thought with an evil smile.

“Ah! So cute!”

I pretended I didn’t hear that cry.

***

(Flashback)

“… the Princess said that?”

Harriet asks in shock. As soon as he left Black Rose Palace, Nikil caught Harriet to tell him what Leona had said.

“Don’t say you love me, liar.”

Harriet shook his head in disbelief.

“I’m telling you just for Leona’s sake.”

This makes Harriet think deeply. A young lady should still have faith in love. Why is she rejecting it? This is definitely because…

“The absence of her mother must have really hurt her.”

She’s never received love from her family. Her mother is dead and her father is cold. Her siblings are her enemies in the battle for succession.

‘What should I do about this?’ Harriet wondered.

At this point, Nikil decided to ask Harriet a question.

“Aren’t you forgetting that, as the royal aide of the emperor, the princess is supposed to be your enemy?”

“…no. I know.”

“Then why are you coming to the Black Rose Palace everyday? Aren’t you violating the rules?”

”…”

“Are you planning to kill her? If not, I’m glad.”

“You!… how dare you insult me!”

Nikil summoned an arrow of light whilst glaring at Harriet.

“Then, what are you going to do?”

“I will protect her.”

Harriet turned to Nikil and said with determination, “I will give her a lot of love.”

As long as he went to Leona with that kind of obsessed face, Leona would hit him but Nikil didn’t say it out loud. He wanted Harriet to be hit.

The Princess is Evil Chapter 7

“Haam”

The warm sunlight made me yawn naturally. Moreover, the material of the sofa was too soft. In the southern mountains, this kind of soft material doesn’t exist. Lynn said that this was called velvet. I tried lying both on my left and on my right side. No matter what, the texture that touched my skin was soft, making me feel better.

‘I thought that this isn’t the time to be lazy but my body is that of a three year old. It is faithful to instinct.’

I buried my head in the fluffy velvet.

‘I’m not lazy… I can’t help it because Cage is in the room…’

It was not just an excuse. Cage stays by my side all day, whether I’m going to the bathroom or not. In this situation, Cage would notice immediately that I was training my mana so I had no choice but to lie down like this.

‘Should I reveal that I’m a mage?’

I think it’s still better for me to hide that I’m a witch. I’m only three years old but I can use third circle magic. This has never happened throughout the history of this continent. Revealing it would mean that more assassins will come. I would be in a more dangerous situation.

‘At least I have to hide it until this body can handle its potential of mana.’

Until then,

“Hawoong.”

Let’s rest. I yawned and stretched. My chubby arm was pulled.

“Wow.”

It was Cage who had grabbed my arm and started prodding at it with her finger.

“Muya. Why?”

Cage blinked a couple of seconds as my words registered.

“… I was absent minded.”

Cage stepped back again. Occasionally, Cage would grasp me like this as she prodded my chubby arms. I wanted to know why so I asked her why but she never gave a clear answer. I don’t think it was because she felt my mana so I wasn’t too bothered by it though.

“Ooh. I’m tired.”

I yawned again and stretched out on the sofa. I felt like I was close to sleep. My eyes started to close. Let’s just take a nap…

“Hey, rabbit.”

Mr. Why don’t you just let me sleep for a while? I frown and raise my eyes.

“You should be glad that your older brother came to say hello. What is that look for?”

Nikil has been coming to see me constantly these past few years. A day is too long for him to wait. He is already ten years old. I can’t figure out why this guy keeps coming to see me despite the fact that he is supposed to do his best in fighting for succession.

“I’m tired.”

I said, looking up at him whilst I was puffing my cheeks. His eyes widened.

“How? Where did you learn such a cute expression?”

He then pinched my cheeks. I wanted to push him away but I’m only three years old. Still too weak to do much. I’m also tired of madly thinking I’m a witch.

“Princess.”

Cage blocked Nikil’s hand. I thought that she had saved me but instead,

“You have to wash your hands first.”

Such a traitor.

“I’ve washed them before I came so I’m clean.”

Nikil exclaimed as he pinched my cheeks and leaned over me.

“You’re so soft. No matter where I pinch, the skin stretches all the time.”

“Be careful or you’ll hurt her.”

“I’m not hurting her and if I do, I can just heal her. I have the power of the sun.”

Nikil pinched both my cheeks again.

“Isn’t that right Leona? I won’t hurt you at all.”

His smiling was so pretty it was uncomfortable.

‘I don’t believe you.’

I already know that all humans are wicked. I pulled at Nikil’s hand to get it away.

“Why are you looking at me like this?”

“Huh?”

“Why are you smiling?”

“Why? Well of course…”

Nikil spoke in a daze.

“It’s because I like you.”

What?

“I really love you.”

“Hey! Me too! I love Leona the most.”

“No, I love her more.”

“You brat! Don’t get in the way.”

Nikil and Cage started fighting like usual. I couldn’t say anything because I remembered something from a while back. Something that I don’t want to remember.

***

Three hundred years ago, when I was still a human, a man came to me. He was a wandering alchemist named Jean.

“Are you alone?”

I was an orphan living in the slums and destined to die. I was completely starved when, for the first time, someone asked me if I would like something to eat. The adult was warm towards me and he gave me bread and milk. I had never been taught to be wary of others so, rather than being wary of his kindness, I counted on him. I was only five years old.

“You don’t have a name?”

Obviously I didn’t.

“I can’t call you kid forever. Let me give you a name. How about Alena? It suits you. You’re small but you’re a child that doesn’t crumble.”

So I took Alena as my first name. I felt like my empty heart had been filled with warmth. When I agreed, Jean smiled brightly and stroked my head.

‘That is love. You love me,’ is what I thought so I loved him. At the time I believed in the word love. I took his hand and followed him to the tower where he lived. What was waiting for me there?

“Please help me!”

“Please, please…”

A girl who wasn’t in glass tubes was lying on a cold iron bed, suffering and pleading with Jean.

“Oh, she’s still not dead. So useless, this waste should be taken away.”

He spit out these cruel words with a brutal face.

“Alena, listen to me.”

His words that followed were shocking. He was a man who wanted to inject the powers of a demon into humans to make weapons of mass destruction. But humans are fragile. Young kids even more so. The children continued to die. Hundreds of them died through his experiments but he did not give up.

“I saw the potential in you. Your glowing red eyes and hair… This clearly means that you will be powerful. Don’t you think that original demons had this look? This will work. Don’t you want to try?”

I should have refused but I didn’t. It was because I was more afraid of being abandoned by him. I’m afraid that he will look at me with the same eyes that he uses to look at the other children.

“You love me, right?”

”I love you, Alena.”

So I endured. Even if the blood of a monster, that was infused into my body, made my skin rot. Even if the invading mana of a demon made it hard for me to breathe. I put up with it. But eventually it became clear that the experiments failed.

“It seems to be useless.”

Why? I thought you loved me? Didn’t you always say so.

“Damn it. It’s so hard to find someone. I can’t believe that I have to start over!”

It’s a lie. It has to be. I needed to leave. I felt something breaking in my head before everything went black. When I awoke, the tower had collapsed and all the humans were dead. Now, even the girl who taught me to write and Jean were dead. Everyone here was dead in the remains of the tower. I looked down at my unfamiliar hands. I was eight but they weren’t the hands of an eight year old. My entire face and body had turned into that of an adult’s. Jean’s experiment was successful.

“If the experiment succeeds, I will call you a witch.”

This makes me the only witch in the world. My powers were special but what was the use of it? The words of humans who loved me were false. There are no humans who really love me. I ran away. I avoided them and their ‘I love you’s.‘ Just like that, I spent 300 years alone.

***

“Rabbit?”

“Princess?”

Ah. I thought too long. I saw two faces peering closely at me.

“Are you ok? You’re sweating.”

“Maybe she’s cold.”

“Your face probably shocked her.”

“Your face is scarier.”

They growled again and started arguing. Hearing them makes my head hurt more so I pull Nikil’s arm.

“My head hurts, shut up.”

“Ah, ok.”

Nikil closes his mouth and steps back but his eyes were still twinkling. I saw him laughing behind his hand which covered his mouth. I don’t understand. I just cursed you so why are you happy?

“You guys.”

I raised my body with all my power to stand on two short legs.

“You don’t need to worry because I’m hurt. It’s ok to just ignore it. I don’t need love.”

I’m really not going to believe humans again. Nikil and Cage look at me with a blank face and then hurriedly turn to whisper amongst each other.

“Leona’s mother is dead…?”

“Yes… there’s only Lynn…”

“She only lives with a maid?”

“That’s right.”

I didn’t want to hear more so I sat down. The effort I spent made me sweaty. Once they have finished discussing, Nikil comes over to me with a soft cloth to wipe it.

“There is one thing I can promise.”

He said whilst wiping my forehead and cheeks. His hand felt even more gentle than the cloth.

“I will always be next to you as your brother.”

“Me too. I will always be next to you as your sword.”

“Please move.”

Nikil pushed Cage to the side to look me in the eyes.

“Even if I become the emperor, I will never kill you. I will never let anyone touch you!”

He smiled and pressed my cheeks between his hands.

“Alright? Let’s promise.”

“Me too! I want to make a promise with the princess as well.”

Nikil shook his head and leaned towards me.

“There are two people who will always love you. In time there will be even more.”

I closed my eyes tightly. I didn’t want to see it. I didn’t want to hear it. Humans are all the same. They always betray, lie and hurt me.

“Rabbit, don’t make that expression. You’re not going to believe me? I really love you.”

These humans.

“I love you rabbit.”

“I love you too.”

Somehow, my cheeks grew hot. But I don’t believe them. I never will.

The Princess is Evil Chapter 6

The Princess is 3 years old

Fortunately, her time as a newborn passed quickly. It’s been three years since I’ve come into this body. This means that at least I can move my arms and legs now. Now that I am three, I am no longer lying in the cradle and I can walk. I can also communicate now. Why did it have to be like this, seriously. But still, I am very big now. I am 3 years old!

“Oh, Miss, did you wake up?”

Lynn came in after opening the door and as soon as she saw me, her face lit up. Lynn approached me with dimples in her cheeks.

“Are you hungry? Just wash your face and I’ll bring your meal right away.”

“Uhn. I’m hungry, but I also want tea.”

I don’t know why, but Lynn suddenly stopped walking. My lips turned up.

“Are you hurt, Lynn?”

“No. It’s just that the princess is too cute. “

“Moya.”

I can now talk proudly with my shoulders raised like that crazy emperor. I look like him and I am getting stronger like him as the days go on. Of course, compared to when I was a witch, this body is not great but it is not bad for a human.

“Ok then my cute little girl. Just let me help you.”

Lynn laughs as she pinches my cheek. Then she soaks a towel and wipes my face to my neck gently. The soft texture made my heart calm down.

“Oh, how my princess smiles so beautifully.”

Lynn stroked my chubby cheek with affection. Sometimes I think that I should trust this human but I shouldn’t. Humans are a race which betrays you. The reason I smile at Lynn now is because I’m still a fragile 3 year old. It’s not that I like her!

“Did you sleep well today? Was your dream ok?”

“I slept well. I didn’t have any weird dreams.”

“Weird dreams?”

“People that are dead come out to see me.”

Lynn’s hand stopped. When I lifted my face, I could see that she was speculating. I was confused but then I understood what she was thinking.

“Ah! Don’t worry! I’m not scared by them.”

I’m a strong witch after all, I boasted to myself. But for some reason Lynn’s face gets sterner.

“Cage!”

Lynn exclaimed as she opened the terrace door.

“Can I talk to you for a second?”

Lynn’s voice is so sharp that Cage’s face whitens.

“…no. I, I can’t right now.”

“No? I have a lot to say. Follow me.”

Cage hesitated and pursed her lips. Then she sighed as if she had no choice but to listen. But why are you staring at me resentfully? I was curious to find out why Lynn demanded to speak with her.

“Cage-sama! Really!?”

Apparently they think that a 3 year old won’t peek at them to listen from behind a door. Listening to their conversation wasn’t difficult as they didn’t even use mana to block their voices.

“Did I tell you to be careful in front of her or not?”

Cage had nothing to say. Despite her tall height she was standing still with her head down.

“Did you call the undead out in front of the princess or not? She’s at an age where she should only see good things and laugh so why are you showing her such scary things? You’re used to them so you’re not aware how scary they are!”

Are the undead scary? I thought about it but, after all, they are weak and weak things aren’t scary. There was something really scary if I think back…

‘The emperor.’

Lynn never mentions him. In fact, I was curious. It is not because he is the biological father of this body. He was an emperor that was strong enough to defeat me.

‘I will become stronger.’

My tension became high. My goal is to become the emperor of this empire. To do this, I will have to kill all the heirs and maybe even the emperor himself.

‘Can I win?’

No, I don’t know yet. To be precise, I need more power to beat him.

‘I need to practice more,’ I thought as I clenched my little fists.

“If you do it one more time I am going to get really mad! Do you understand?”

“It’s crystal clear.”

“Now is not the time to talk further. I’ll bring a meal. I’m hungry.”

“I’m also hungry.”

“Then let’s go. This tray is too small to bring in more than 2 servings.”

Their voices get further away. Normally it is quite dangerous to leave me because the threat of assassination is everywhere but Cage is a competent necromancer. Assassins couldn’t come into my room.

“Ooh woo.”

I turn my head towards the window as the leaves of a large tree shook. There was a black shadow. It must have been an assassin who couldn’t enter because of the barrier.

‘Would you want to try and open the barrier?’

I pondered for a moment. But I didn’t worry for long. With two short legs, I slowly approached the balcony. The balcony is out of reach of the barrier so the assassin could come to me.

“Why did you leave your barrier?”

-huying!

A well-forged arrow flew past my cheek.

“If you were still in your room, you could have lived. Right, baby?”

The assassin was wearing black all over his body so all I could see was his dark eyes which flashed cruelly.

“As I’ve heard, it looks so cute. It will be a pity to kill it.”

The mask moved with his mouth as he spoke.

“Don’t be afraid. It’s easy to die. It will only hurt a little.”

I was still looking at him. Every time I moved my head, my long hair moved.

“Really?”

I grabbed the railing of the balcony.

“Are you strong?”

The assassin’s eyes blinked slowly as he took in what I said.

“Haha! Are you asking me that now?”

“Uhn.”

“Yeah. I’m strong enough to kill you with one hand.”

“Well, so can I.”

With my concise answer, the assassin burst out laughing. I spread my arms wide.

“Ice.”

White chill came to my hands. The chilly mist was cooling the air.

“Bolt.”

The ice missile flew straight towards the assassin. He was hit because he was unprepared so he hardened as he turned into ice.

“This, this…”

The ice froze him from head to toe. His eyes were frozen wide open with a fearful look.

“Hum. It’s weaker than I though.”

If it was with my previous ability, he would have died on the spot. But, maybe this is more interesting. Lightning bolts flash in my hands.

“Lightning bolt.”

The lightning flashes towards him. I was going crazy with my magic because it has been a long time since I’ve used it. This is fun. Thanks to my control, he is not dead yet but on the verge of dying. I approached him like that and the fear increased in his eyes.

“Heal.”

The white light from my hand touched his body. As soon as the light hit him, he began to recover quickly. Even the assassin seemed unable to understand what was going on.

“Are you healed now?”

The assassin looked between me and his body in amazement. Then he knelt quickly.

“Are you going to save me?”

When you realise your weakness, you become infinitely humble. Human beings should be more consistent. A beast is either consistently weak or consistently strong. I twisted my lips.

“Let’s just make it easy.”

Just before the assassin noticed what I meant, I gathered a lightning bolt in my hand.

“Lightning bolt.”

I laughed loudly as I watched the lightning strike him. I felt refreshed.

***

Knock, knock. The door was opened.

“Are you sleeping again?”

Lynn asked as she laid down the breakfast that she brought. Cage also put down her tray beside Lynn but her expression was not good. She felt as if there was something strange in the room as she entered. She hurriedly rushes towards the window to check outside. There was a trace of mana in the air which felt like it had been moving violently. She approached the lady sleeping on the bed.

“Cage, why are you doing that?”

“Just wait a minute.”

Cage looked at Leona’s body. Fortunately, there was no damage on her. She was just sleeping.

“I was mistaken.”

Cage felt concerned but, thankfully, Leona was fine. Short limbs were spread all over the place. Harriet, who was secretly watching Leona all the time, had said that she had grown so big. However, cage couldn’t agree. Leona wasn’t big. She was still a weak baby so there were countless of people targeting her. The average number of assassins that tried to kill her per day were three. The number of poisons that had been mixed into her food were even larger.

‘I’ll protect her.’

Cage clenched her fist as she stood alert next to Leona. In this imperial family, Leona only had her to protect her.

The Princess is Evil Chapter 5

The day Leona chose her ‘sword,’ the imperial family flipped out. It was not just because the Princess chose the necromancer, Cage. It wasn’t because Harriet, the Aide, was so stunned that he collapsed. It was because of the Princess’ mana leakage. Harriet, who woke up again later, ran straight to the Palace of Antiquities.

“Was it your wish?”

Said Harriet, slamming the door of the office wide open.

“Did you do it, your majesty?”

The emperor frowned. He took off the glasses he was wearing and looked towards Harriet. Harriet swallowed involuntarily.

“That doesn’t scare me.”

He was scared, no matter how you looked at him. Ck, the emperor clicked his tongue.

“What’s going on again?”

“What’s going on? Didn’t you hear what everyone is saying?”

“It is unnecessary to listen to the words of lower beings.”

Harriet looked at the emperor with a tired face.

“The Princess’ Leona’s mana was leaking.”

The emperor laughed. He thought that there was no way that a child’s mana could leak. Embarrassed by the emperor’s attitude, Harriet continued quickly.

“5 Star mana was running through her body. Of course it was Cage who noticed and, thankfully, she acted quickly. Her life would have been at stake otherwise.”

Cage… it seemed as if the Princess has chosen the necromancer. Did she mean to choose her? Indeed, I am not disappointed. The emperor’s mouth went up at an angle.

“You’re smiling? The Princess almost died!”

The emperor raised his hand from the armrest to move his hair away from his face. Chills ran down Harriet’s spine from the menacing sensation that came from this laid back gesture. Harriet gulped.

“So, what did you want to say?”

“Did you put the mana into the Princess’ body?”

Harriet’s guess was valid. No one would ever think that the Princess’ magic came from herself. Harriet was one of the few who knew that the emperor met and threatened the Princess the day before. The emperor clasped his hands.

“Harry.”

“…please tell me.”

“I don’t have to kill the children with my own hands.”

He’s crazy, Harry barely resisted the urge to blurt out.

“She has already finished choosing her sword so her life isn’t in my hands. It’s in the other princes'”

Harriet trembled with clenched fists.

“That’s the problem! That’s it! Aren’t you throwing me out to die of guilt for not being able to protect such a cute and lovely lady?”

“Protect?”

“Yes! She’s the only cute and lovely princess in an imperial family which is full of terrible guys! Hasn’t your majesty even seen the princess? Even so, you’re still driving the princess out to war? You bad man!”

The emperor narrowed his eyes at Harriet. At best, Harriet had only seen the princess once but he was already showing an unfamiliar fervidity towards her. Hmm. The emperor leaned back with his arms folded.

“I gave her the Black Rose Palace.”

“Sire!”

Harriet’s breathing became heavy .

“He, he, he, you’re insane… it can’t be true. Even if you are ruthless, there’s a limit!”

The Black Rose Palace was built during the emperor’s era. It was the place where four young women who had resigned from the fight to succeed were living. Royal siblings who gave up their right to succeed started living together. By the time that ten members were living there, their elder brother, the current emperor, killed them so that he would leave no stone unturned. The first prince also died in the hands of the current emperor. Anyway, the Black Rose Palace had a pretty brutal history. That’s why the royals didn’t want to be assigned to this palace. This isn’t just because of the Palace’s history but also because of the bloodstains and nail marks that remained which would arouse fear. In addition, it was located at the outskirts which made the threat of assassinations higher.

You gave such a gloomy palace to the lovely, pretty and cute Leona. Even if she was protected in the main palace, it wouldn’t be safe, he’s being ridiculous! Harriet became angrier at the sight of the emperor’s straight face.

“It’s really too much! What will you do if she dies!?”

Haa, the emperor sighed deeply. Because of the empress’ will, he gave the Black Rose Palace to Leona. If Harriet knew this, he would just be more frustrated.

“If she dies, it will be her fate.”

“You brute!”

Just as expected, Harriet is in tears and turns his head.

“I’m suspicious of my eyes for the first time. Why do I have someone like you around?”

“Where are you going to find a great aide like me? I really hate you.”

Harriet took a deep breath as he looked at the emperor.

“I’ve decided.”

He clenched his fists with a firm gaze.

“I’m going to protect her. I will protect her.”

Then he ran out of the room. Looking at Harriet’s back, the emperor sat forward and crossed his legs. From the necromancer Cage to the top-notch knight Harriet, Leona has people loyal to her that not even a twelve year old would deserve.

“It’s fun.”

The emperor laughed for a long time. The sound of his laughter was so loud that even the 4th Prince, Nikil Hasis, heard as he was hiding in the hallway. This made Nikil think. Who was the twelfth princess to be able to make his majesty smile like that? What the hell.

‘I’ll see for myself. And if it’s worthless, I’ll kill it.’

Nikil giggled and left the hallway.

So now,

Nikil froze after seeing a cute, small creature in front of his eyes. Her hair looked soft and fluffy, her white skin looked soft like marshmallows and her red eyes glowed like rubies.

“…rabbit.”

It was like seeing a tiny baby rabbit.

“Mya?”

That little voice is so cute. Ugh, my heart. Nikil grabbed his chest without realising it. Harriet was wrong. That gnome couldn’t explain even half of this girl’s cuteness.

“Your highness.”

It was Cage who stopped his thoughts.

“What are you doing?”

Cage asked whilst she was glancing between him and Leona. She stood in front of Leona and covered her face which made Nikil frown.

“What am I doing? I’m doing nothing.”

“You’re threatening the princess.”

“Who? Who’s threatening her?”

“You are.”

“When did I?”

Cage closed her eyes. He is such a cheeky prince. She should kill him. Then Cage’s eyes became sharp.

“What is this doll?”

Nikil asked as he approached the Princess. He frowned at the old rabbit doll which she was holding.

“Even though the princess is young, why did you give her something like this? Throw it away and get a new one!”

I will give you the most expensive and high quality doll. After receiving my gift the princess will be happy, Nikil thought whilst giggling.

“About that… prince.”

It was Lynn who interrupted his fantasy. She dropped her head carefully as she spoke.

“This doll was a gift from the late empress. The princess really cherishes it.”

Nikil’s eyes widened. He looked between the princess and the doll alternatively.

“She’s young.”

“Yes, she hasn’t even turned one yet.”

“She hasn’t even reached one yet but she knows that the doll is a gift from her mother?”

Lynn smiles instead of answering and Nikil bites his lip.

“Small and cute things are uselessly pitiful!”

He digs his feet into the ground. Nikil, who was having a good time with Cage, turned his head and looked at Leona. The Princess was smiling and looked more lovely than any other creature.

“You… it’s you.”

Nikil’s nose flushed.

“Don’t be pitiful, ok?”

Then he held both hands wide open as white light came into it, shining brightly like the sun. The light from his hands went straight towards the princess as it permeated her skin.

“This is a blessing from the sun god. It’s worth too much for you to afford.”

The princess blinked her eyes a few times. Lynn, who was standing next to him, whispered quickly.

“My lady, this is Nikil, your older brother. He just blessed you with the power of the sun god that was given to him.”

The princess smiled and reached out to him.

“Hiyaa!”

Nikil reached out to touch her hand and softened. It was softer and smoother than he had ever imagined. Are all babies this cute? No, I wasn’t cute when I was a baby. This one was unusual. Nikil wanted to watch her more.

“I will come again.”

He lightly spoke, reluctant to leave the princess.

“Keep the door open for me.”

Watching him leave, Cage released the power in her hands and Lynn relaxed. They looked at each other at the same time.

“Let’s not talk about it.”

“I agree.”

The young girl, Leona, looked up at them making a promise of silence. She seems to have been blessed. The blessing was a good thing but that guy was really cheeky. I hate humans and I especially hate humans who bother me.

“Everyone seems to care for the Princess.”

“Because she’s so cute. It would be good if no more troublesome guys came.”
