The Princess is Evil Chapter 4

I quietly lay in my cradle and watched the people bustling around me. Today is the day that I move into my own palace. Originally, it was planned for me to stay protected in Dandelion Palace, but now that I was taking part in the fight for succession, I had to go to my assigned palace. Whilst my baggage was being packed, Lynn kept glancing towards me with a worried expression. After the mana incident, Lynn stayed with me all the time. Since she was already concerned when I was out of her arms, she would be very worried about leaving this safe zone. But there is no need to worry because I have Cage. I smiled at cage who was standing close to the cradle.

“Hihing.”

Cage stepped away again. Strange. Since the last time, every time I make eye contact with her, her face flushes and she stands back. No way, was my smiling face that scary?

“Ah.”

Lynn, who noticed my displeasure, came hurriedly.

“My princess, are you bored?”

No, I’m not bored. I’m upset because that nasty Cage is staying away. Does Lynn know what I’m thinking? She looks towards Cage’s eyes, clasps her hands and looks at me again.

“But what should I do? It looks like it will take longer than expected to pack everything up,” she said, rocking my cradle slowly.

“Would you like to play alone with a toy?”

Lynn pulls out something from a drawer.

“Do you want the rattle?”

Lynn shakes the rattle in front of me. No! The great witch doesn’t need it! I turn my head away.

“Oh, so you would like one?”

Look at this great witch properly. I’ve turned away on my side. I hate it! I’m not a child!

“Oh, ah!”

I moved around angrily.

“I’m sorry, well then…. uh what else is there?”

Lynn was embarrassed and took out more toys. Then, my eyes widened in surprise. I swallowed and carefully reached out in front of me.

“What about this…”

Cage gave me a rabbit doll that was charred so dark that I couldn’t find any of its original white colour. One of its arms was cut in half with the cotton stuffing trailing out. It’s left eye was missing and it only had one ear left. It seemed to have been a toy that was thrown away and discarded.

“Haha, isn’t this too old…?

Lynn smiled politely and reached for the doll just as I reached out to take it.

“You want it!?”

Give it! It’s mine!

“Yes, yes? But it’s very old…”

Lynn didn’t know why I wanted it so she just shook her head and handed me the doll as if she couldn’t help it. I hugged the doll in my arms. I didn’t care about the doll itself. The mana flowing out of it was more important.

‘Why do I feel dark mana in this?’

Is this something like an artefact, if so, I wanted it but I had no way of being certain that it was. So I gave up trying to find out. I’m a smart witch. Whatever the reason, it’s a doll with mana. When I hold it, the mana flows into my body. I have 5 star mana but I would be infinitely happy if I could raise it higher.

“Yehh!”

I felt good and laughed as I held onto the doll tightly so I didn’t notice Lynn’s complicated gaze.

***

“When did you fall asleep?”

Lynn said as she covered the sleeping Leona. Leona fell asleep holding onto the rabbit doll. She wanted to save it as a painting with how lovely and cute it was. Lynn smiled brightly.

“What’s that?”

Lynn was surprised and turned hastily as Cage spoke.

“Where did the doll come from?”

She laughed bitterly. Even Cage sees that an old doll like that doesn’t suit a member of the imperial family.

“It was the princess’ mother, the empress, who brought it here.”

It turned out that the maternal family of Leona was of the principality of Lan.

“When the empress was young, she loved to play with dolls so she brought them with her into the imperial palace.”

Lynn said whilst looking down at Leona who had buried her face into the doll.

“She would have loved to see this…”

She pulls out a handkerchief to dry her eyes.

“… seeing the princess like this.”

However, the empress was dead. Cage drew a short breath.

“We are all very sorry for Leona.”

Lynn said again, brushing away her tears.

“She’s at the age when she would normally be bonding with her parents, but she can’t… She’s only one year old and she’s caught up in the fight for succession.”

That was correct. However,

“Don’t pity her.”

Cage responded resolutely.

“The Princess is strong.”

She saw the potential of the princess. She withstood the pain of mana leakage which even causes adults great pain. She was a bold child with enormous potential.

“But even if she becomes stronger in the future, she is weak now.”

Cage shook her head. She pinches the cheeks of the sleeping lady. There were no words to describe her feelings. Cage bowed her head with red ears as she felt the softness of Leona’s cheeks.

***

Now it was evening and Lynn was moving me in her arms. The palace I was assigned to is called the Black Rose Palace and when she heard this, Cage became noticeably angry.

“The Black Rose Palace. No way, that’s absurd.”

“Oh, that’s…”

Lynn staggered and stared into Cage’s eyes.

“The ghosts of dead royals are here. How could you bring a baby to live here!”

Cage fists her hand furiously so Lynn’s shoulder’s trembled as if to say, ‘Hik!’ As if Cage was scary.

‘Why are you scared by such a small thing.’

Humans. I shook my head.

“I’ll complain to the emperor right now. This is unfair treatment.”

“No!”

Lynn hurriedly moved in front of Cage.

“I asked for the princess to be moved into Black Rose Palace.”

“What! Why? This place is worse than garbage.”

“It was the empress’ will!”

Lynn cried while holding me tightly.

“The empress said that I must bring the princess to this place… I can’t help it. Even if I don’t want to… I have to keep the empress’ will.”

Cage’s eyes blinked slowly. She glanced between me and Lynn and then struggled to raise her mouth.

“It’s a great palace. I like it, I like it.”

Cage raised her thumb whilst avoiding mine and Lynn’s gaze.

“It’s the best.”

Her earlobes were red as she said, “I’m sorry princess, I was very worried but I will try to keep the will of the empress.”

I was curious about the country which my mother came from, but since I can’t speak, I can’t ask about it for now. I nodded silently.

“If you don’t feel like it, I’ll beg you again. Please bear with me.”

I turned my head to look as we approached the palace that seemed to be boasting great dignity. The palace gardens were full of black roses which made it gloomy just to look at. The windows were also made of black stained glass windows so it seemed as if it would hold back all light. I saw the reason why Cage said that, ‘this is the place where the ghosts of dead royals reside in.’ I am surprised that I haven’t seen a ghost already.

‘The mother of this body must have been a strange person. If not, why did she mention that I had to stay here in her will?”

While I was thinking, the hair on my body suddenly stood up. I raised my eyes and took in the surrounding. I remember this feeling. This palace has the same dark mana that came from the rabbit doll.

“Ah! Ga!”

I struggled because I wanted to see inside the palace right now.

“Are you angry?”

“Oh!”

Let’s go quickly! I extended my arms towards the palace. Lynn, who was smiling at me, quickly walked me towards the palace. As we approached the palace, I could feel the dark mana getting denser. It was breathtaking.

‘Is there something hidden in this palace?’

I looked towards Cage with narrowed eyes. If I could feel it, she would too.

“…Oh?”

But it’s strange. Cage didn’t seem to be feeling anything. Why? Cage should be stronger than I am now? Of course she should feel this mana…

“Gyaak!”

The wind blew. But the wind did not feel like a normal wind. It contained magical power. Cage hurried to stand by my side. She spread her hands wide so that she could release her power. I opened my eyes and looked around.

“What is this?”

I saw a boy with blonde hair and red eyes. Although his hair and eyes were different from the emperor, his face resembled the emperor’s. His eyes narrowed.

“If I don’t kill it, it looks like it’s going to die soon anyway. Can it fight for succession like this?”

No matter how little he focused on me, I knew he was here to threaten me.

“Hyaa!”

Leave! I spit out a scream.

“What, what? What did you say just now?”

“Hey Ah! Hyaa!”

Go away! I cried out again, but this guy didn’t leave. He just opened his mouth and stared at me. In this case, I regret just being a one year old. Had I been a little bigger, I would have crushed this guy at once. Ugh, I regret it. Sob. I couldn’t control my emotions and stared at him with reddened eyes.

“What is this?”

He smirks at me when he notices.

“…a rabbit?”

I humphed and buried my head in Lynn’s neck.

The Princess is Evil Chapter 3

‘Are you crazy?”

I thought while looking at the man who was lying on the stretcher. I know who he is. He is Harriet Riser, the emperor’s aide and a top notch knight. Five colonies of ogres were turned into Mugwort fields by him in just one day and their flag disappeared.

‘He had a fight with me.’

He tried to cross my mountain range without permission. Of course I won and I made a very pretty bowl from his armour. However… He is stronger now and humans seem to grow up fast. I don’t know when my one year old body will grow.

‘But why did he suddenly faint?’

It’s a shame, but I don’t care. I have more important things to think about. I suddenly moved my eyes to the woman who I noticed. The woman who was missing her left arm was standing firmly whilst squeezing one of her lobes. All humans here will wonder why I chose this woman, but I won’t tell you. Not because I can’t say, but because I have no intention of telling you. Because the woman in front of my eyes is a ‘cage artist.’ She was the continent’s strongest necromancer.

“Hey Kid!”

I smiled brightly at her

Cage Artist. A necromancer that is able to raise the dead and use their power. If they are powerful, they can call a legion so they are a painful shaman to fight. Because this fact is not well known, it is unlikely for many to know her identity.

‘That’s why she’s an appropriate escort.’

Her story spread to me whilst I was stuck on the mountain range. Intermediate level knight expeditions would rush to kill one. There were great rumours about her killing twenty wyverns to make them all undead. Or rumours of her annihilating King Jacques, who tried to assassinate her one morning. I knew of her very well. Because Cage was the cause of these rumours, I wanted to fight her once. Unfortunately, she didn’t come to the mountain range where I was, so I couldn’t fight her.

‘But I’m meeting you now.’

Of course, now I am only a one year old so I cannot fight Cage. Cage was also the ‘sword’ I chose. It means that she has to protect me.

‘I wonder why Cage is willing to serve a child.’

Whatever reason she had, it was a good thing. If Cage were attached to my side, I would be safe from assassinations.

“Oh!”

I reached out towards Cage but she stepped back. What? I didn’t do anything. I stared at her.

“Uma”

Even though I used the cute voice of a child, Cage stepped back again. At a glance, I saw that her cheeks were red under her robe. I wanted to know if she was afraid to get sick but what’s the use? Either way, Cage is ignoring my favour.

‘So hot.’

The room was hot so I was dripping with sweat and I felt annoyingly feverish. I sniffed my runny nose and looked at Cage. It was at this moment that Cage, who had retreated and was avoiding my gaze, hurriedly approached me. She looked at me in surprise and grasped my arm before I tried to pull it away.

‘It hurts!’

“Oh!”

This body is too weak! I tried struggling, but for Cage, my rebellion would feel like the buzzing of a fly. Damn. Why am I so small in comparison to all of you…!

“What’s going on, Cage.”

It was Lynn’s voice. She was looking at me with a worried face. After all, she’s the only one who understands me. She’s not like those other insignificant humans. I pout my lips at her.

“I think the princess is hurting so why don’t you let go of her hand…”

Cage released my hand before Lynn could finish talking. Then she looked around in a hurry and dragged a large, human man over.

“What is it?”

I look up at the man who was pulled towards me.

“That’s… I’m Ver, a therapist, my lady.”

Are you really a therapist? I looked at Cage but she ignored my gaze.

“This guy is so shy and quiet… …anyway I’ve dragged you to take a look at the lady.”

Ver glanced at Lynn as if he were asking her for permission. Lynn, who hesitated for a moment, nodded. Hey. Lynn. Why didn’t you ask my doctor first? You are a trivial human being. I won’t bless you anymore. I pouted and left my wrist to Ver.

“Let’s take a look.”

He took my hand and it wasn’t long before his eyes widened in surprise.

“You have to bring a fuse.”

“Yes?”

Lynn said with a smile when he didn’t elaborate further.

“What are you talking about?”

“Don’t worry, her mana is just leaking.”

I looked at myself. It can’t be, I look perfectly fine? This quack…

“This little body’s mana is a 5 star level mana. This was obviously forced mana. If you don’t cure it right away, her life will be at risk!”

Lynn’s mouth gaped and Cage shook her head as if she already knew what it was. The humans in the room started grumbling. It was so hot I kept sweating even though I’m a fire witch.

“You kept twitching your shoulders. Why didn’t I notice…”

I was happily thinking about becoming an emperor.

“You must have been terribly ill.”

No, child I was not.

“How can you endure without crying?”

Do I need to endure listening to you?

“I just relied on your laughter. How could I just rely on that?”

My body originally contained 5 star mana…

“It’s Eskina’s blessing, isn’t it?”

It’s not the blessing of that old dragon, I’m strong!

“I’m going to call a doctor right away!”

Hey, you crazy guys!

“Ahhrgh”

No matter how much I shouted, none of the humans here could understand me.

Ah, just do as you please.

*********************************************

“I can tell that she still has mana, but fortunately it won’t hurt her because I quickly took action.”

The doctor said. Cage listened silently and nodded.

“For the time being, her mana is completely stable. You see?”

Cage’s dark eyes flashed violently as she guessed who the unscrupulous man that put mana into the body of this little girl would be.

“I’ll be over there. If you have any other problems, please do not hesitate to contact me.”

He left the room. As soon as Cage heard the sound of the closing door, she approached the Princess who was sleeping in her cradle. The Princess fell asleep while sucking her thumb so it was now laying quietly next to her mouth.

‘…12th princess.’

Cage looked at her with an expressionless face. She was the strongest necromancer on the continent. She has lived on the battlefield for many seasons so she knew that she would one day close her eyes on one in the future. However,

‘I made a promise with the emperor.’

I swore on the river of death. For that reason, I was forced to return to the Hasis empire and I was chosen to become an escort. It was unpleasant. I was angry. I just wanted to kill the prince or princess and run away. Cage had thought so before she saw Leona.

‘…she’s small.’

Cage thought as she looked at the white haired child in front of her. When I first saw Leona, I thought she was very small. She was so small that I felt like she would break if I touched her but she didn’t look weak. She reminded me of the sun… My eyes became swollen as I felt like I was looking at the face of the sun. It was so strange. A surprising sensation flowed through my blood. It was similar to what I felt when faced with the overbearing pressure of a strong person. So I was curious but I didn’t even notice that it was because of mana leakage. Cage frowned. It would have been nice to notice earlier. Even though it would have been painful for anyone, it must have been especially hard for a baby to endure. I couldn’t even feel it. Cage felt guilty for being unable to notice as she didn’t know that Leona was a 5 star mage from the beginning.

“Woah.”

At this time, the princess rolled over. Her plump arms and legs spread out. Her skin looked bouncy.

‘I want to touch.’

Cage raised her shoulders in surprise at her own opinion and thought, you can’t do this. Cage shook her head but instinct made her act before she could reason. She ran her fingertips through Leona’s grey hair and ran them down towards her face. Fuzzy hair was wrapped around her finger.

‘…it’s like the fur of a rabbit.’

It’s not only because of Leona’s hair colour that I compared her to a rabbit. When I first saw her with her eyes wide open, she looked like a baby rabbit. A frightened rabbit but also a rabbit that won’t escape. A rabbit that will become stronger until she becomes a predator. But a rabbit is just a rabbit. They can’t go to the upper levels of a food chain.

‘If so…

Cage touched the cheeks of the imperial princess without realising as her nails dug into her skin.

‘If so…’

Cage raised her hand, while observing the girl, and spread her palm out towards the ceiling.

“Death Cutter.”

The blade which carried killing intentions was blown away. The assassin, who was hiding, immediately died on the spot and collapsed onto the floor. The fishy smell of blood poured out, however, Cage could only smell the scent of the soft baby. Her lips turned upwards slightly.

‘I will protect you.’

She thought as she raised her hand to lightly stroke Leona’s cheeks.

‘It’s soft…’

She wanted to keep touching her cheeks.

The Princess is Evil Chapter 2

“Princess! Please stop that…”

Lynn pulled me back forcefully. Hey. You’ve seen what I can do. If it wasn’t for Lynn, you’d be in trouble. I turned my head and leaned into Lynn’s arms. Even then, the emperor was watching the saliva flowing down his hands.

“She, I, y, your majesty, she made a mistake because she’s still young… please show mercy.”

Lynn stuttered and handed a handkerchief to the emperor. Only then did the emperor raise his eyes and look straight at me. It was a fearsome look.

‘What are you looking at. So unlucky.’

I stared at him with my eyes wide open. The stare off lasted for a few seconds.

“Biting the opponent instead of crying…”

The emperor glanced at his hand. Immediately, white mana flowed out to wipe his hand clean.

“It’s amusing.”

His lips slanted up. The thick scars on his cheek loosened.

“With this insult, I will make her choose a sword.”

Lynn’s body hardened as he spoke. Lynn looked between the emperor and the princess and hurriedly shook her head.

“Your majesty, the princess is still a child. She hasn’t even had her first birthday…”

“This child tried to kill me despite my strength.”

Did I really try to kill you?

“What!”

Bad man, liar! I was shouting inside, but

“Look. The girl agrees too.”

This man was a poor human being who was incapable of interpreting my words. Sigh.

“Let’s call her Leona.”

The emperor laughed and lifted the tip of my chin.

“I will watch to see whether your teeth turn into those of a lion, the king of all beasts, or whether they turn into those of a crude beast.”

As if to warn me that the emperor has his dangerous eyes on me.

“I hope you meet my expectations.”

The emperor flicked my chin lightly.

“It is not worth it to keep a trivial thing alive.”

Then he laughed again as he passed us by. Like a blizzard, a chill passed through my bones.

‘I have some words I want to say to him!’

He was really strange, I thought as I turned my head to watch the passing emperor. As he was moving away, I glimpsed the sword hanging from his waist. It’s a sword that she’s seen a lot…

‘…wait a minute.’

My eyes widened. I rubbed my eyes with my hands and looked again, but nothing changed. His sword had the horns of a black dragon that was defeated by a human, and a handle with the wings of the former queen fairy who was also defeated by a human.

‘…no way.’

I looked back in a hurry but the emperor had already disappeared. Pounding. My heart was pounding quickly. Anxiety hit me. No. Nonsense. There is really no way it could be that sword. I think it’s just a replica… Lynn noticed me and hugged me whilst muttering.

“Princess? Are you feeling sick?

Lynn raises her eyebrows with tears in her eyes.

“I’m sorry I couldn’t stop it. I’m so sorry…”

Lynn was crying and saying.

“You’ll be choosing a sword tomorrow. It is inevitable under the statutes of our empire. You are now involved in the fight for succession. In the future…”

I didn’t catch the words that trailed off. The only thing stuck in my head was ‘swords’ and ‘fighting for succession.’ Among the empires in this world, there was only one which had its heirs fighting for succession.

‘Oh, so crazy.’

I closed my eyes. If this place is ‘there,’ then the emperor we met was inevitably ‘him.’ Blue eyes and grey hair with the smell of a dragon. The only person it could be, is one.

“Your name is Leona. Leona von Hasis. You must remember this, ok?”

A transcendental person who inherited the blood of a dragon and he was ‘the man who fought like a dog a long time ago.’

‘Hah, this is fucked up.’

I spit out a laugh.

Twenty years ago, there was a man who was trying to cross my part of the mountain without permission. So I attacked him. I’m a strong witch that guards her territory. It was said the the top of the mountain was shared by the Hasis empire, the strongest continent, and the Whanga family. In addition, the national treasure lay on top of it. So what happened?

‘The crazy emperor rushed to kill me.’

If I hadn’t discarded my pride as a witch and ran, I would have lost my life. He was a human who won battles even against demons. After that, I avoided the side of the mountain that belonged to the Hasis empire.

‘You were born as his daughter!’

Somehow I didn’t recall. The entanglement with him was too frightening that I didn’t want to think about it. When I found out yesterday, I really wanted to leave this body. If he finds out that I’m in this body then my life will really end.

‘But…’

The potential of this body was too precious for me to just go back to the spirit world. I wouldn’t have 5 star mana. If I polish this body well, it will conquer the empire and bring my revenge.

‘And this body’s pedigree would also be wasted.’

It would be too much to abandon this status and potential as an imperial ruler just because I was this gnome’s daughter.

(Only the strong will survive)

This phrase penetrates through the entire imperial family of Hasis. The emperor has as many children as possible and they compete for the throne until the winner remains. The surviving child becomes the sole emperor that can rule the continent.

‘So that crazy guy is the guy who killed 37 of his brothers to become the emperor.’

So scary… Gulp. The saliva ran down my mouth. Saying I’m not afraid would be a lie. I was born as the daughter of an emperor who had tried to kill me. But I can’t give up. This is an ecosystem where only the strongest will survive. They kill each other and then hide. That is why,

‘It’s a very good stage for me!’

I’m a witch who causes mercenary’s to cry at her mention.

“Hihiing”

Of course I’m a one year old so my laughter always sounds cute. Damn. Born as the 12th Princess of this empire, I was caught up in the fight for succession. If I was allowed to follow the original customs, I would have been protected in Dandelion Palace until I was 5.

‘But the emperor put me in front of the sword.’

I seem to have been acknowledged by the guy who tried to kill me. So I must, no, I will become the emperor. I will become an emperor and trample the kingdom of Karel, ruled by Lacus. I will achieve continental supremacy with this body.

“Hihing

I laughed again and slightly raised my head. Choosing a sword is not just about choosing a sword. As a member of a royal family, I get to choose people as swords. Hundreds of humans were standing in front of me. Some were knights wearing armour and others were magicians wearing robes. I didn’t even bother to look at them. There was only one human that I wanted to choose. I reached out to point straight at a woman who was missing her left arm.

Everyone felt that the young girl, Leona, had picked a bum. The bum chosen by the princess was not a grandiose woman, but she was an ordinary woman who looked like she didn’t have the power to do much. She had no left arm. The emperor’s daughter was seen as a remarkable disappointment to witnesses and those who stood to be chosen.

“Hoohh”

Well, all except for one who was the emperor’s aide, Harriet Riser. A man with a good eye. He might have thought that her choice of this woman was a coincidence but the Princess was firmly pointing towards that woman. This means that Leona did not choose her by chance.

“Are you alright, your majesty?”

Harriet recalled his encounter with the emperor last night.

“You saw the 12th Princess? How come?”

Of course his question was not answered by the emperor. I guess he stopped by to check out that ‘thing’ that was buried in the Dandelion Palace, and then encountered the princess. Well, it didn’t matter how the emperor met the princess. The only important thing in this imperial family is,

‘Who is this? Are they a threat? Are they strong or not?’

That was it. Harriet didn’t expect an answer when he asked his question. Of course he thought the emperor would ignore it.

“Stay tuned.”

“Yes?!”

Harriet was shocked. He had no choice but to go. The emperor is someone who ignored the prince who was called an extraordinary weather prince. He even dismissed the second prince who was a rare ice wizard like himself by saying that his skills were ‘not enough.’ To the 4 princes who were blessed by the sun gods, the six wizards and the black shaman, he said that their powers were ‘useless.’ Therefore, Harriet must see her.

I decided to see her so I cancelled the meeting with the two princes today and ran to this place. It was good that I came because I saw you choosing ‘that’ woman. I wonder if you were looking at the cute and lovely face of that lady. No, what am I thinking. I looked at the Princess. I saw a round head, two lovely eyes, a cute nose and a mouth. How? Why is she so cute? As if she felt my eyes, the young princess turned her eyes towards me.

“Ahwoo”

The princess laughed with a smile. Her hair looked as soft as cotton candy and she swayed her chubby feet. The moving arms and legs were plump which made them look like soft marshmallows. Damn it! She’s so cute my heart is writing poems…!

“Aide”

“Are you okay.”

She’s so cute it’s not ok. Harriet bent to grab his chest when he saw her again.

“Yeah!”

The Princess was smiling and laughing at him. Ah, she’s so cute…

“Aide!”

“The aide collapsed!”

Chapter 1: Birth of the Wicked Empress

“Why aren’t you crying?”

To be honest, I really didn’t want to be reborn in this body.

‘That’s right. It’s normal to cry right away…’

I was led into this body. It was never my choice.

So,

“Would you like me to smack your butt?” Someone asked.

‘Please protect the witch’s dignity, won’t you?’

I tried to express myself, but they were trivial humans with no talent in grasping the expression of a newborn baby.

“Slap!”

There was a sharp sting in my hips. Damn it! Damn it! It’s so shameful! I’m the most powerful witch! The fire witch who dominated all the veins of the southern mountains!

“I wonder if there’s a problem with it… Would you like to call a doctor?”

“Oh no! What to do if his majesty finds out! Forget that idea, it’s useless. No way!”

“Well then, one more smack…”

“Let’s do it one more time?”

I opened my mouth without hesitation.

“Waahh!”

Hearing my arrogant cries, they were so relieved that they didn’t notice the strangeness.

“I’m glad.”

“That’s it.”

Then they patted my back as if to soothe me. Human, take your hand off! I wanted to say but the body of this newborn baby did not move as I wanted it to.

“Our beautiful little princess.”

Then they all said the same thing in unison.

“Please survive.”

“You can’t die.”

What are you talking about? Until then, I didn’t know whose body my soul was in. Well, even if I knew, there was nothing I could do about it.

Round and round. The first thing I saw when I opened my eyes again was the spinning mobile hanging from the ceiling. A sigh brought me back to reality.

“Hiyu.”

Of course I had no intention of making such a cute sound. This one year old body is unable to properly express my frustrations. I struggled to lift my arms and very small hands caught my eye.

‘Why is this happening?’

I asked, but truth is that I already knew. Why? It’s because of that child Lacus who betrayed me. Ugh. Instead of teeth, I had gums which I clenched tightly. I lived for over three hundred years as the only witch on the continent. I was powerful enough to destroy a country, but I wasn’t really interested in it. Because I hate humans. I was too disgusted to have contact with humans and killing them? It was a waste of power to use on such creatures. So I lived in my home in the southern continent, where humans rarely went. Rumours were spread in the human continent about where the witch lived so humans never came near and I lived comfortably without encountering humans. Until I met Lacus, the youngest prince of the Karel kingdom. After being chased by assassins, he dragged himself into the mountain range where I was. And on his knees he begged me,

“Please save me. Please, please.”

I’ll say it again, I hate humans. But at that time, as if I was possessed by something… I fell in love with him at first sight and I felt human emotions for the first time. So I saved him and followed him to the kingdom of Karel. Did I just leave like that? I watched his back, made him become the crown prince and even brought him the throne. On the day that he promised to propose, he told me,

“Alena, I’m just following what you taught.”

He knelt on one knee and praised me, but he never gave me a ring.

“You taught me that I should remove anything offensive,”

He claimed as his sword stabbed my stomach. Why? There was no answer to this question. I breathed my last before I heard an answer. I was killed by him. But fortunately, the mana nucleus that contained my life was not destroyed so my soul could escape. I thought that if I stayed in the spirit world for a decade, I could gain strength and resurrect. However, I ended up reincarnating in this baby’s body. To begin with, this body was a body with an empty soul. Without a soul, this body would die so it pulled me in with all its might.

‘I don’t want to live as a human!’

I’ve said it many times, but I really hate humans. I’m angry. I’m so angry. I tried to take a deep breath to calm down my raging heart.

‘No. Let’s try and think positively.’

I’m an optimistic witch. I have been trying to change my thoughts. If this body hadn’t pulled me, I would have been roaming the spirit world for nearly a decade. Ten years is a long time for humans. A long time for the one who betrayed me, Lacus.

‘My revenge could be faster?’

Because of reincarnation, maybe I could get my revenge on Lacus sooner. Isn’t it my motto?

‘I must kill Lacus.’

But for now I can’t. I’m only a one year old without teeth. First, I have to grow up.

“Oh woo”

It’s hard enough to make a sound with all my power.

“Hey, our lady, did you wake up?”

A maid called Lynn came to the cradle.

“Would you like to eat, namnam?”

I shook my head vigorously.

“You don’t want to? Would you like to change diapers?”

Don’t touch my body carelessly! I shook my head wildly.

“Uh, if you don’t like this…just…wait a minute.”

Lynn widens her eyes as she realises.

“Princess. Did you understand what I was saying?”

Don’t think I’m a poor human baby like you were. I’m a great witch!

“Hnng”

I turned my head. But it was so strange for Lynn to not look happy. It seems like it’s not a good thing to understand.

“I want the princess to be ordinary. No one is here so she can be ordinary for a long time.”

She said something so profound with a dismayed face. I wonder which country I was born in.

“Ooh awnng”

I was curious but I couldn’t ask.

“Oh, what am I talking about in front of you? Please stay for a while. I’ll bring you your milk”

I won’t eat! I don’t want to eat this miserable thing which doesn’t have taste!

“Ahhhh”

I’d like to be served meat with dripping blood right now! It was a shout with this meaning.

“Ok, I’ll be there soon.”

Lynn, a trivial human being, didn’t seem to understand what I was saying and hurriedly left.

“Hiyu”

Even worse, as a newborn baby, my physical strength was limited. I gently lowered my limbs and turned my gaze to the ceiling.

‘It’s good to have some quiet’

I raised my hand again. A small, slender wrist obscured my field of view. When I had a witch’s body, I was strong. There was only one human who could hit me, but then I was a witch and now I am living in this weak body.

‘ I wish that this body will at least has one star mana.’

Then I’d be able to pull the mana that was imprinted on my soul towards me.

“Let’s check this body’s mana once.”

I closed my eyes. I put my hands on my chest and focused my mind. Once I pulled the strength from my toes to my feet, a tingling sensation slowly climbed up from my ankles to my wrists. The power that came to my chest was burning hot. I took a deep breath and released the burning power. I lifted my eyes. White light was in front of me.

“…5 star.”

I had to be dreaming. I didn’t believe it so I tried to detect it again but the results remained the same. Before I became a witch, I only had 2 star mana at this age. So this body is a genius’ body.

Does this mean I can conquer the continent? I was anxious.

In order to use magic, you need a mana loop called ‘Circle,’ and each time this ring grows, you increase your rank from 1st Circle Wizard and 2nd Circle Wizard. Therefore, the first thing you should do if you want to use magic is to create a circle. The most important factor when forming the circle is the amount of mana you have. That amount is classified by grades. They range from the most common 1 star to the least common 8 star in the human categories.

‘But I have 5 star mana when I’m only one year old?

I wonder what would happen when I regain my soul imprinted mana.

‘Will I be able to become a tenth circle wizard…?’

My body trembled as I suddenly needed to go to the bathroom, but I was still only a one year old baby that couldn’t even support her neck…

“Ah woo..”

Was the only thing I could say to protest as Lynn came to change my diaper.

“The princess doesn’t even cry when she needs new diapers. She’s so caring.”

‘If I could die of embarrassment, I would be dead by now.’

I covered my face with both hands. Of course, my hands were small and my face wasn’t covered. Damn it. This body is so small and fragile. I have to grow up quickly. Then I can rule this continent.

“Would you like to go for a walk today?”

Lynn said and hugged me.

“While I’m here, it’s safe. It’s better to go out a lot when it’s safe.”

When it’s safe? I didn’t understand her meaning. I don’t know which empire’s queen I am. But anyway, I’m part of a royal family so who can hurt me? The question came to mind but, as I said, I’m only one year old. One year olds can’t speak so I had no choice but to leave the room quietly with Lynn. It is not because I thought Lynn’s arms were warm. Never.

“Our Princess is so calm.”

Lynn slowly stepped into the hallway explore the place.

“The name of this place is Dandelion Palace. All the princes and princesses are born here. You will stay here until the age of 5.”

Lynn rambled on vaguely.

“After that, you will receive a choice and your own palace but that’s a story for the distant future. You’ll be comfortable for now. Don’t worry.”

“Myaa!”

“Princess, why are you doing that?”

“Hmph!”

I was annoyed. Lynn kept saying weird things that I don’t understand. If you’re going to speak, you have to explain everything from the beginning. Why are you talking in circles like this. I sniffed my nose and turned my head.

“Why is my princess angry? Yes, please tell me.”

Lynn hugged and rocked me so my body was shaking.

“My good young lady, you shouldn’t be angry with my. Why are you upset?”

Lynn looked at me tenderly with a sweet smile.

“Are you hungry? We’ve just changed your diaper, maybe it’s another reason…?”

Lynn who spoke so gently, suddenly cut off her words and shuddered her shoulders. What’s going on?

“Mah?”

I looked at Lynn’a face. Her tired face caught my eye. What, what? I turned my head towards her eyes and then…

“Your majesty, it’s nice to see you.”

The father of this body and the emperor of this empire noticed me. A man with long grey hair that glistened like snow, slowly approached me. He was taller than the average human, with wide open shoulders and a muscular body. The large mana that I felt from him told me that he was a competent wizard.

‘Are you a magician?’

The long scars on his cheek were so creepy that they stood out but, something else caught my eyes. It was one aspect. His two long eyes without double eyelids were deep and dark enough to still an opponent. The blue of his eyes was as calm as the sea on the eve of a storm, resting full of energy.

‘…I’ve seen those features on a human before.’

Those type of handsome humans, I would remember them if I could. I tried to remember them but my mind drew a blank and I couldn’t remember anything.

‘Aiyo, am I too old?’

Originally, as I got older, I forgot how to blink. So I wouldn’t be able to help but remember normally. I tried hard to suppress the anxiety that I felt as I was unable to figure out where I knew his face.

“What is this?”

I hiccuped. This was because the emperor’s power was full of darkness.

“Is this child a human?”

A tremendous sense of pressure crushed my body so I couldn’t breathe properly.

‘There was no pressure like this when I met the dragon.’

I desired to escape. Because even the original me was careful not to fight a fight that I couldn’t win. Even when fighting a dragon, I always ran away and attacked from behind. Now I was just a newborn baby and the daughter of this guy. I can’t help it that I want to run away.

‘I’m only looking at you.’

I opened my eyes and looked at him. I was nervous enough to sweat, but I didn’t blink once. The tip of his frowning lips turned up a little.

‘What are you laughing at?”

I stared at him with an ugly look, but no matter how scary I look, I was a harmless infant. So, of course the emperor ignored me and spit out.

“She has grey hair.”

I felt Lynn breathe in.

“Yes, the Princess resembles your majesty.”

Lynn replied calmly whilst she was trembling and squeezing me.

“She also has red eyes.”

“Yes, the Princess resembles your majesty.”

Lynn shivered as she expressed herself. She was a surprisingly brave human.

“Ah… I think she may be the one with the darkest colour. She kind of resembles Eskina.”

Eskina is the name of the dragon who has a bad relationship with me. Why is that old man’s name suddenly coming up? I felt anxious and frowned.

“That dragon…”

The emperor strokes his chin and faces me.

“Then let’s check.”

He grabbed my hand so harshly it felt like it was being pulled out. What are you doing! I’m fragile. I was trying to scream for him to wait when indescribable pain flows through my body. It was as if a sharp rake was being dragged along my body.

‘It hurts!’

It hurts so much that tears come out. My breath was choked and my eyes widened. It has been about a decade since I have felt such pain.

‘You bad guy! I’m your daughter! If you’re a human, shouldn’t you be good to me?’

I bit the emperor’s hand hard but when I did, it was just a fluffy gum attack of a one year old. The emperor didn’t even blink.

‘This, this…! Bad man!’

My saliva, a physiological phenomenon outside of my control, dropped onto his hand.

“…now.”

The emperor narrowed his eyes.

“Are you spitting on me?”

He said, looking down at his hand which was full of saliva. Aw, please.
